Worship

Worship is central to our life together as a congregation. It is the primary place where we celebrate God’s goodness and our life together. It is also one of the places where we are challenged by the call of the gospel and listen for God’s guidance in our lives.

All our worship services are open to all people and we are committed to the equality of all people regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexuality, or ability.

Sunday Morning Worship 9.15am

New Lambton Uniting Church has an all age service at Trinity (cnr Regent St & Portland Place, New Lambton)

Our service has both contemporary and traditional parts. There is usually something for everyone in each Sunday. We aim to cater for all ages.

As part of our contemporary approach we often have space for discussion, rely on a band for music and regularly engage people through video, drama, and children’s stories.

Everyone is welcome to be a part of our worship service, to share in communion, and to be a part of the wider faith community. Children are most welcome in all our worship services and we have regular children’s activities during worship.

NewCity 11.15am

NewCity is an informal semi-liturgical church. Its services are short (around about 45 minutes) and are made up of songs, readings, silence, prayers, reflections and conversations. it’s a church where EVERYONE IS WELCOME … There are normally a bunch of kids running around and a diverse group of people of all ages 🙂

Faith @ 5

Faith@5 is held in cooperation with Jesmond Park Uniting Church and involves interactive worship and discussion activities.  It is held at Jesmond Park Uniting on the second and fourth Saturday of each month during school terms, beginning at 5 pm.

It aims to provide the opportunity for younger and older members of the church community to interact more informally and to explore our faith through discussion, hands-on activities, and multi-media. While many of the participants are families with school-aged children, people of all ages who enjoy less structured ways of worship are encouraged to attend.

As part of our intetional focus on building intergenerational community, we share a meal and conversation after each service.

Fibre Art Wall Mural

Fibre Art Wall Mural

Details from the beautiful fibre art mural that hangs in Trinity Worship Centre appear on this website, and helped inspire it’s design.

Following renovations in Trinity Church an old boarded up window became a challenge for those with creative skills to construct a wall hanging using textiles. A small working group decided on the themes of representing Lake Macquarie, The Hunter and Newcastle.

Church members offered materials and their skills were directed by the fibre artist Yan Pring. Creativity began in 2009 with working sessions where up to a dozen women began piecing small sections of a scene such as New Lambton Village, Nobbys, the Hunter River or the vineyards together. Others worked at home using crocheting or needlework skills to further add dimension. This massive project was then pieced together bit by bit onto a background, overlayed with netting sewn over the top, then the netting cut away. Beautiful Australiana cross-stitch work was added to the boarders. There are some quirky details, look for the green cat!

Colour and life now hang from this space behind the music area, as a worshipful piece of art for others to enjoy.
